"Dreamers"

The following pictures are part of the long-term project called Dreamers by young Iranian photographer Nazanin Tabatabaee Yazdi.

It's a powerful and very original work about poeple who suffer from schizofrenia.

The subjects were photographed inside the Saraye Ehsan Mental Clinic (officially: The Charitable Institute for Protecting Social Victims) in Tehran, Iran.

Golnaz is 29 years old. She has been in the mental clinic from 10 years ago. She wishes to come back home and live with her family.

Abbass is a 59 years old man who lived in mental clinic for 12 years. His dream is to travel. He says, he enjoys nature. It makes him feel calm.

Zahra is a 35 years old woman who lived for 10 years in the clinic. She wishes to get married and has her own family. She wishes to wear wedding dress.

Ahmad is 65 years old and has been living in the clinic for 15 years. He lost his close friend who died 5 years ago. They have had a great time together in the clinic for 10 years.

Ramezan is 70 years old. He has been living in the clinic for 10 years. His wish is driving. He used to be a bus driver for 30 years.

Fateme is 27 years old. She has been living in the mental clinic in Tehran for almost 4 years. Her wish is going to cinema as she loves watching movies.

Akram is a 48 years old woman. She has been living in the mental hospital for 10 years. She is always thinking about her mom and wishes to meet her again. She has no idea where her mom is. She says, she doesn’t know why her mom is angry with her.
